AUTOMATION GUIDE
How to assess repetitive business work before you automate it.
A practical starting point for owners and operations teams. Look at the work first; choose technology second.
1. Measure recurring effort
List the work that happens every day, week or month: data entry, follow-ups, invoice handling, support, scheduling, reporting, documents and CRM administration. Approximate hours are enough to identify patterns.
2. Look for repeated movement
Pay particular attention when a person copies information from one system into another, downloads a file, renames documents, sends the same message repeatedly, or rebuilds a report from the same inputs.
3. Separate rules from judgment
Good automation candidates often have structured inputs, repeatable decisions and predictable outputs. Keep human review where the work involves exceptions, sensitive decisions, approvals or context that is difficult to encode safely.
4. Validate the economics
An automation opportunity is not automatically a good investment. Compare recurring effort, error cost, response-time impact, implementation cost, maintenance burden and failure consequences.
5. Start with one workflow
Choose a bounded process with clear inputs and outputs. Document the current state, define the exception path, test with real examples, and measure the result before expanding.
